Introduction

Runesmith is a code editor for Windows, Linux and macOS, built on .NET 10 and Avalonia. It opens a folder, shows its files, and edits them with highlighting for more than 60 languages. For C#, Runesmith's own analyzer adds completion, signature help, hover, go to definition and problems as you type, and Build runs dotnet build and lists what the compiler found.

What this version does

This is the first version, the MVP. It focuses on editing C#:

  • A docking workspace in light and dark. Panels and editors drag to any edge, into another group or out into a window of their own.
  • An editor with syntax highlighting, typing aids such as closing brackets and keeping indentation, and find and replace.
  • Completion, signature help, hover, go to definition and problems. For C# they come from Runesmith's own analyzer, built on the C# compiler, with nothing to install; plugins can add language servers for other languages.
  • Quick open, the command palette, find in files, the Problems and Output panels and building.
  • Settings for you and for each folder, key bindings you can change, and plugins that add languages, commands, panels and more.
